For dessert, skip the chocolate cake ( unless you're nostalgic for Sara Lee) and go for the ice cream pie or one of Izzy's Cheesecakes. Peach-raspberry is fabulous.

However, I save the best for last, the dish I will remember most clearly from that night: the Cheesecake Terrine from izzy's Cheesecake. This was three flavors of the richest, creamiest cheesecake imaginable - chocolate, plain and hazelnut - covered and bound together by semi-sweet chocolate icing. This stuff is so good it will make you want to cry.

Of course, you want to know the People's Choice awards. They were Alberta's incredible scallop and lobster dish and Izzy's Pumpkin Cheesecake that beat out the chocolates.

The dessert list is simplicity itself: Izzy's Cheesecake...That's it. That day our choices were God-like-B-52 ( cheesecake flavored with Kahlua, Bailey's irish Creme and Grand Marnier) and the almost-as-good Oreo-Creme de Menthe. David Izenstatt is a local cheesecake maven, and he's good. These cakes are more a variation on the theme of cheesecake than the real thing. But who's complaining?
